Audi, like its VW parent, is making much noise about its not terribly ambitious aim to have EVs or hybrids making up 30% of its sales by 2025.

Audi's EV and hybrid plans are not overly ambitiousThis suggests that the remaining 70% will still be petrol or diesel, which might mean Audi being left behind by more ambitious plans from Jaguar Land Rover, Daimler Benz and BMW, not to mention Tesla and probably one or two EV manufacturers we haven’t even heard of yet.

Meanwhile, the cynical amongst us might be forgiven that this announcement from Audi might be designed to drag attention away from the news that they are being asked by the German Ministry of Transport to recall 24,000 A7 and A8 models because of a suspected emissions fraud. This could be serious…
