Germany's first large-scale photovoltaic plant is being refurbished

It’s getting harder for enemies of solar electricity to find logical arguments to employ.  A common line trotted out is that PV systems lack longevity so we are grateful to the Germans (via the BPVA)  who are about to refurbish one of the first commercial PV plants constructed 32 years ago.

This plant is not in some balmy Bavarian sun-trap either. The North Frisian island of Pellworm is exposed to some fairly hostile north sea weather and has held up well since it’s installation in 1983.

Anyone getting thirty years output from systems we are installing today will still be getting electricity at around 5p per unit.  Anyone care to speculate as to the unit cost of a kWh from the grid in 2045?  Will we still have a grid in 2045?
