Independent renewable generators produced almost 8% of the UK’s electricity last year

A study reported on the cleantechnica blog records that independent renewable generators produced almost 8% of the UK’s electricity last year.

The report studies installations over 50kWp and notes that these energy investments now account for 11GW of electricity production, which, to put it into mainstream media terms, is enough to power over six million homes. It also notes the effect that adding all this renewable capacity is having on consumer electricity prices; they are moving lower. It suggests that a move to localised, independent energy generation, free of dependence on monolithic, quasi-state owned energy companies is good for consumers of electricity.  Who would have thought?Independent renewable generators produced almost 8% of the UK’s electricity last year

These are impressive numbers and we’re proud of the small part have played and continue to play in the evolution of the UK’s energy market.
