Another of the big six energy suppliers raise their prices

SSE is the latest of the big six energy suppliers to raise their prices. They won’t be the last. Make no mistake, electricity prices are entering a period of sustained, above inflation price rises. This has nothing to do with the price of oil and gas, both of which remain at fairly low levels. Most of the increase of almost 7% comes from the cost of maintaining the generation and grid infrastructure and these costs will remain regardless of what happens to wholesale hydrocarbon prices.

The FT reports on the latest uptick in electricity costs here

If your business has a large, constant daytime electricity demand, this is going to affect your profitability.  Mypower customers ordering solar systems for their factories in the first quarter of 2017 will be generating electricity from their roof at around £0.045 pence per kWh, 1/2 to 1/3 of the typical charge from the big six.  Once installed, that price will never increase.

If you want to give your business the competitive advantage which comes with generating your own, low cost electricity for the next 25 years, come and talk to us. The business case has never been more compelling.
