Explosion creates another body blow for EDF

As Claudius opined to Gertrude in Hamlet, ‘when sorrows come they come not as single spies, but as battalions..’

These sage words could equally be applied to EDF; on the back of reports questioning the firm’s financial adequacy, comes the news that there has been an explosion at its nuclear power station in Flammanville on the Normandy coast. The reactor at Flammanville, we have reported before, is the same model as that proposed for Hinkley C.

How much more bad news needs to leak out from EDF before our government grows a backbone and delivers the coup de grace to this doomed project?

City AM reports on the explosion here.
