We’ve been consistent that the move to electric cars will gather pace in the next couple of years. This transformation has just taken a huge step. BMW have announced that its entire range will be electrified, and that technology used in the i3 will be used in mainstream cars such as the 3 Series.

We’ve driven the i3 and it’s a real piece of work; BMW have extensively used carbon fibre reinforced plastics to maintain structural integrity but to cut down weight. This means that bigger, heavier batteries can be used without adding to the cars’ heft.
