DONG Energy to concentrate solely on its wind generation business over its hydrocarbons business

In a delicious ironic twist, the Danish Oil & Natural Gas company, otherwise known as DONG Energy, is widely believed to be about to dump its hydrocarbons business and concentrate solely on its wind generation business.

DONG, still majority owned by the Danish government, will be the first major oil and gas company to transform itself into a wholly renewable generator. This is probably the first of many such moves to offload oil and gas assets which many in the industry fear could become worthless if the pace of wind and solar generation continues at the current rate.
