We missed this Nick Butler blog from last week’s FT.
Anyone with a business which relies on a secure, reliable supply of electricity should read this and be very concerned. Successive UK government policy of kicking the can of energy policy down the road will soon manifest itself in blackouts and energy rationing. Even upping the level of subsidies on offer can get the new Hinckley reactor built and there is nothing in the plan to replace the huge amount of energy this generator should be producing by 2017. As a country, we appear to be in a bit of a pickle.
