One part of the Green Party's manifesto makes perfect sense

The Greens may be as mad as a box of frogs but we like this part of their manifesto:

“ensure that all schools, hospitals and other public buildings have solar panels by 2020″

Unlike most of the bonkers stuff these dreamy idealists come up with, this makes perfect sense. Schools,  hospitals, air bases, colleges etc all consume large amounts of electricity during the daytime. They also have large roof spaces.  

More and more businesses are cottoning on to the fact that investment in solar energy makes hard-nosed commercial sense. It’s time the public sector caught up.
