Japan now has more EV charging points than petrol stations

Fascinating new stat published on Twitter by the World Economic Forum. Japan has more EV charging points than petrol stations.

Even allowing for the fact that, presumably, lots of these are privately owned, Japan has reached a tipping point. It has a manufacturer with a globally competitive all electric offering - Nissan - and a national interest in reducing dependency on imported oil. With the charging infrastructure already in place, charging concerns and range anxiety are a thing of the past.
