New London electric cabs tested in icy conditions

Interesting story from the BBC about how Geely is testing its new electric cab in icy conditions, presumably to test the effect the cold has on battery life.

With more and more cities announcing that they are going to start restricting access for diesel cars, whoever cracks the electric taxi first will make hay. Chinese owned Geely seems to be heading for first mover advantage with this new model which has a small petrol engine for range extension, similar to the BMW i3.
