Saudi Arabia is going to build the world's largest solar project

Saudi Arabia, lynchpin of OPEC and until recently, the world’s largest oil producer is going to build the world’s largest solar project. Generating 200GW (gigawatts - not megawatts) this vast project will produce enough electricity to power 150 million homes and raises the possibility of Saudi exports of clean electricity to its Gulf neighbours.

This is an incredible undertaking and demonstrates once again that solar is the cheapest way to provide new electricity generation, even in oil rich Saudi Arabia.
