South Australia will see the creation of the world’s biggest battery storage system

The Guardian reports that South Australia will see the world’s biggest battery storage system on a 330MW solar plant being developed on otherwise unused scrub-land. The 100MW of storage will be the biggest yet installed by some margin and shows just how far utility scale solar generation and storage has come in the last year. Prices continue to head downward and efficiencies move upwards.

Australia has perfect conditions for generating its electricity needs from projects like this; loads of cheap land and high levels of sunshine.
