Tesla sales have soared in Germany

Any lingering doubts about the severe threat Tesla poses to German luxury car brands will have been dispelled with the first quarter sales numbers for the German domestic market.

As @Forbes reports here European sales of the Tesla Model 3 are booming but it is sales in the Tuetonic heartland of Germany, Switzerland and Austria where total Tesla sales actually eclipsed Porsches in the latter’s back yard. Porsche sold 6060 cars, Tesla 6132.

The sudden and brutal assault on a market sector Germany had almost to itself for years will be causing panic; one thing we can be sure of, any debate about whether EVs will replace ICEs is now over and this will accelerate the launch of electric models from the German brands. Porsche is next up with the much anticipated Taycan.
