World's first solar cycle lane opening in the Netherlands
World's first solar cycle lane opening in the Netherlands
This could almost be a Daily Mash spoof of a Guardian story, featuring bicycles, renewable energy and cycle paths; a guardianista’s wet dream.
But it is a real story and whilst there will be plenty who mock the fact that powering those three houses with a solar cycle path has cost £2.4 million, the bigger picture is tantalising. Roads, car parks, footpaths could all be generating passive energy with no aesthetic impact on the landscape.
We like it, but then we like bikes as well…..
