Bannister Transport
196.78 kWp (463 solar panels) installed in Evesham
Keeping it cool
Founded in 1965, Bannister Transport is a specialist in temperature controlled distribution. With a modern, centrally located fleet located in the Vale of Evesham, Bannister provides efficient delivery of fresh produce, chilled and ambient foods from growers and manufacturers to food service businesses and major supermarkets nationwide.
Bannister is committed to high levels of service, sustainability and affordability so constantly seeks to reduce its carbon footprint, lower energy costs and protect its clients from volatile fuel costs.
A positive change
Bannister Transport has made a commitment to remove fossil fuels from all operations. This forward-thinking approach includes being one of the first UK companies to invest in electric, solar and battery powered refrigerated trailers, as well as harnessing solar energy at its warehouse to ensure consistent, energy-efficient temperature control.
Precision control
Correctly sizing, designing and specifying the warehouse solar PV for Bannister Transport required Mypower to deeply analyse and understand the constant power required to maintain precise temperature control.
From here, we assessed the warehouse roof space (which was limited compared to its operational needs), the integration of the solar with the facility’s electrical infrastructure and the charging needs of the refrigerated units.

During installation, we needed to be highly cognisant of the need to maintain normal business operations including the coming and going of delivery vehicles and the need for cleanliness, so as not to compromise hygiene across a site handling fresh produce, food and drink. The end result was a high quality installation of over 463 solar panels, with a system capacity of over 195 kWp, delivering 169,198 kWh of clean energy each year. This is enough to meet a third of the site’s annual energy demand.
