We were sceptical when TfL announced trials of an all electric double decker last year. We’re generally not huge fans of buses, what with the fumes and the tendency to squash cyclists.

So it’s a pleasant surprise to see that the Chinese built bus is now ready to start work on London’s busy streets. Five of them hit the road in October and will be part of a rolling replacement of the captal’s traditional diesel fleet. Presumably these buses will be stored in a huge depot somewhere and it will have a vast expanse of roof space. Cover that with PV and the buses will run on the sun...
