£1 billion worth of electricity could be saved by UK manufacturers
The EEF report on the untapped money that UK manufacturers could be saving from energy efficiency.
The report, which you can read in full here suggests that a huge 12TWh of electricity demand - worth a not insignificant £1 billion - could be saved. That is equivalent to 4% of the UK’s total electricity demand and for a country on the cusp of a winter electricity capacity shortage, a demand reduction of such magnitude would be timely.
Lots of efficiency measures have a short capital payback and, coupled with self generation from the roof, can offer an immediate competitive advantage and increased cost savings as grid electricity prices rise.
