Solar Panels Worcestershire

The UK industry pays 33% more for electricity than the rest of Europe - commercial solar panels Worcestershire

This is a surprisingly high figure, showing that the UK has severe flaws with its power supply. So, how do the likes of France and Germany do it cheaper? A superior attitude to renewable energy like solar PV is key. Installing reliable, long-lasting solar PV systems enables businesses to take control of the rising electricity bills for the heat and power they require.

How can solar PV Worcestershire work for your business?

If you are spending more than £7,000 per annum on electricity and seeing energy costs rising each year, a 50kW solar PV system could see you generate a sizeable portion of your electricity for 4-5p per unit compared to typical grid supplied price of 13-15p per unit. A 17% return on investment is achievable with a sub six-year payback time. First year income and savings on this typical SME sized installation is around £7,000 in the first year, and over 25 years it's a staggering £300,000!

We supply commericial solar systems to fit any business, no matter how large or small. Our PV panels come from REC, a leading specalisit within their industry.

Walsh Mushrooms

Walsh Mushrooms have been a key supplier of quality mushrooms to UK supermarkets for the last 40
years. They supply 500 tonnes of mushrooms to all sectors each week, accounting for over 17% of the UK market. Their packaging and distribution warehouse at Evesham has high energy requirements, using over 1,100,000 units of electricity per annum. To continue their commitment towards sustainable mushroom development, the business decided to invest in solar energy which would help reduce their carbon footprint and running costs.

The initial contract was for 149.5kW, however towards completion Mr Walsh’s confidence in Mypower and solar grew, so he considered using additional roof space and placed an order to add a further 99.28kW. Later the same year, Mr Walsh commissioned Mypower to install further solar panels on a new building at the site, taking the overall installation to 426 kW – 1,600 panels.

These solar panels for industrial buildings will produce 8.1 million units of electricity over 25 years, which is the equivalent of forward- buying electricity at 4p per kWh. This compares to the current purchase price from the supplier of around three times this value.

Over 360,000 kWh of electricity is produced per annum with 95% of it used onsite. In the first year, Walsh Mushrooms saved in excess of £50,000 on its electricity overheads, and over 25 years the total savings are predicted to be more than £2.5 million! The system also reduces their carbon footprint by a staggering 120 tonnes of CO2 per annum. Over the first three years, production outperformed Mypower's predictions by over 3% per annum, improving these figures further.

"I had been thinking about investing in renewable energies to make our properties more attractive to tenants. Solar was a logical investment and offers protection against rising electricity costs which means we can pass the savings onto our tenants."
