InterContinental Hotels Group are going solar
Some weeks ago we wrote about solar generated electricity being cheaper in the UAE than kWhs derived from hydrocarbons. Big business has taken note and InterContinental Hotels Group have announced plans for their latest Indigo branded hotel in the Emirate of Dubai which will be powered entirely by solar PV generated electricity.
This is really big news, not least because hotels in the ME use an awful lot of electricity, air conditioning being a must. Luckily, high levels of sunshine means that this region achieves some of the best returns from PV and there is no reason why any new building in the emirate, if designed properly, shouldn’t be using 100% solar energy.
