German carmakers are facing their iPhone moment

Fascinating piece in the FT comparing the German car industry to Blackberry and Nokia at the launch of the iPhone; the German car industry’s heavy dependence on diesel technology makes it vulnerable to the global shift away from DERV. 

   

The next decade will see some seismic changes to the automotive landscape, it’s possible that some of the premier German brands might not cope with the new order.
