Mypower's evening at the National Energy Efficiency Awards 2020/21

Oh, WHAT A NIGHT!

On Friday 19th February 2022, after two, exceptionally long years of postponed events and cancelled dates, took place the National Energy Efficiency Awards at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole. Not even the worst storm in UK history could keep away the hopeful nominees in attending this glamorous evening, filled with laughter, dancing, and connecting with distant friends. And of course, the reason for the evening… the presentation of the National awards in energy efficiency for 2020 and 2021.

Established in 2015, the Energy Efficiency Awards celebrates companies and individuals going above and beyond for their contribution to green energy and sustainability. Over 100 different companies, from all over the UK, were in for a chance of wining an award from one of 22 different categories, with extra commended and highly commended prizes also up for grabs. Presented by BBC Breakfast and Sports Presenter, Dan Walker, the spectacular evening sprang into action.

After a successful evening for Mypower at the Southwest Energy Efficiency Awards, winning Small Project of the Year, the stakes were high. Fantastically, Mypower was shortlisted for three awards over two different categories: Solar PV Installer and Contractor of the Year, National Solar PV Project of the Year for Leeways Packing Services and National Solar PV Project of the Year for Delaney Mackay Lewis Ltd.

The Awards Presentation

As the dinner came to a close, it was now time for the awards presentation. Dan Walker handed the reins over to Comedian, Tom Allen, to compere whilst the room sat nervously in their seats. One by one, awards were presented, and companies were recognised for their spectacular efforts in making the world a greener and more energy efficient place. As the evening progressed, it was now time to announce the winner of the Solar PV Installer and Contractor of the Year. Shortlisted alongside 22 other companies, Mypower held their breath. To be shortlisted for such a prestigious category was amazing, so to win would be a dream come true! Tom Allen first announced the names of the companies to receive the commended and highly commended awards, but Mypower’s name was not included. The table fell silent as Tom Allen announced the winner; and it was Mypower! With an uproar, Mypower’s attendees jumped to their feet to collect their award.

Ben Harrison, Managing Director of Mypower said “We have worked very hard over the last 11 years to provide a long term and sustainable business. We have ridden the roller coaster of boom and bust in the industry, resisting uncontrolled growth, which would compromise our high quality and professional service. The whole team know that we are only as good as the weakest link in the chain, which is why this award is so special to every member of the business. They all give their absolute best and go the extra mile to do a fantastic job."

“We were up against twenty-two very good companies who do some great work in the industry. Whilst I know we are right up there with the best; it was still an incredible surprise to hear our name called out. I am exceptionally proud of the people and culture at Mypower and dare I say it, in my heart I had really hoped and believed we could win, I was just not quite expecting it!”

Congratulations Mypower! Very well deserved indeed.
