Here is an amazing stat... Electricity from solar 33% cheaper than electricity from gas in Dubai

If there is one place that can generate cheap electricity from gas it is the UAE. However, falling costs of solar hardware and high levels of sunshine coupled with huge areas of cheap land mean that solar is cheaper than hydrocarbons in OPEC’s backyard.

This one of several game-changing references to solar replacing conventional electricity generation in todays FT, including a report from Georgetown in Texas which will be getting all of it’s electricity from solar and wind.  We wonder what J R Ewing would make of a whole town in Texas turning it’s back on hydrocarbons.
