Shell to install chargers for electric cars on European forecourts
It may look like turkeys voting for Christmas but Shell's announcement that they are to install electric car charging points at their filling stations is a shrewd move.
At present, filling stations make no revenue from electric cars. By offering (we hope) fast charging, Shell can sell drivers food and drink which offers much higher margins than petrol or diesel, which is why filling stations are all convenience stores these days.
